- SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH VERSION - Il primo titolo dei Mötley Crüe con il chitarrista John 5 - un live di matrice immancabilmente pirata - è un doppio album in vinile che propone due show integrali, tenuti a distanza di un paio di mesi l'uno dall'altro. Tralasciando considerazioni sul primo dei due eventi (completo ma circoscritto a soli 6 pezzi) - che ha visto la band impegnata al secondo giorno dell'88esima edizione del Draft NFL 2023, a Kansas City, nel corso della quale la National Football League (NFL) ha selezionato i giocatori idonei per la stagione 2023 - il concerto del 30 giugno 2023 a Londra rappresenta la vera chicca dell'uscita discografica. I Crüe stavano in quel periodo per concludere il loro tour mondiale assieme ai Def Leppard con spettacoli trionfali, compresa una data prevista a Wembley, il 1° luglio, davanti a qualcosa come 90.000 spettatori. Sotto le mentite spoglie di una misconosciuta band nominata Dögs of War, il quartetto prenotò uno spettacolo per il giorno precedente presso la discoteca Underworld Camden di Londra, una location di modesta ricettività contenente al massimo 450 persone. I fortunati partecipanti a quell'evento, non è dato sapere quanto effettivamente consapevoli, hanno così potuto assistere ad uno show intimo, spalmato su un set piuttosto articolato, comprendente i classici del gruppo (manca all'appello giusto "Home Sweet Home") e un medley di 6 cover, ivi inclusa "Fight For Your Right (To Party)” dei Beastie Boys, suonata dal quartetto per la prima volta in tutta la carriera. Nonostante l'esecuzione sia impeccabile, l'assenza di magia in entrambi i casi non è dovuta alla prestazione di John 5, la cui tecnica esecutiva non è minimamente in discussione, e neanche all'assenza di Mick Mars, maggiormente intristita dagli ormai noti strascichi legali, quanto piuttosto al fatto che la band ha perso un po' di credibilità già in passato, annunciando più volte concerti celebrativi dei quali è stato puntualmente vanificato lo status di evento finale. La qualità audio dei due show è di poco superiore alla sufficienza: il suono è oltremodo metallico, frutto di una registrazione chiaramente ambientale, pur catturata con apparecchio di stampo digitale. Il doppio album è stato commercializzato in 320 copie con copertina gateold, poster incluso, così ripartite: 20 sono in versione promo (vinile nero); 300 copie sono in vinile giallo con tre diverse variazioni splatter: viola, rosso e nero. - ENGLISH VERSION - Mötley Crüe's first title with guitarist John 5 - nothing more than a bootleg - is a double vinyl album that offers two full shows, captured a couple of months apart from each other. Leaving aside considerations on the first one (which consists of just 6 tracks) - which saw the band engaged on the second day of the 88th edition of the 2023 NFL Draft, in Kansas City, during which the National Football League (NFL) selected the players eligible for the 2023 season - the concert on 30 June 2023 in London represents the real gem of the record release. At that time, the Crüe were about to conclude their world tour with Def Leppard with many triumphant shows, including a scheduled date at Wembley on July 1st, in front of 90,000 spectators. Under the guise of an unknown band called Dögs of War, the boys booked a show for the previous day at the Underworld Camden nightclub in London, a modest location containing maximum 450 places. The lucky participants in that event, we don't know how aware they were, took part in an intimate show, spread over a rather complex set, including the group's classics (but "Home Sweet Home" was missing) and a medley of 6 covers, including the Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right (To Party)", performed by Sixx & Co. for the first time in their entire career. Although the execution is impeccable, the absence of magic in both cases is not due to the performance of John 5, an excellent guitarist with impeccable technique, nor to the absence of our idol Mick Mars, but rather to the fact that the band has already lost some credibility in the past, announcing celebratory concerts several times whose status as final event has promptly been nullified. The audio quality of the two shows is just above sufficient: the sound is extremely metallic, the result of a clearly ambient recording, although captured with a digital device. The double album is published in 320 copies with gateold cover, poster included, distributed as the following: 20 in promo version (black vinyl) while 300 are on yellow vinyl with three different splatter variations: purple, red and black. |
