Ci sono voluti 21 anni per ritrovare un vecchio amico. Tanti sono passati, infatti, da "UP", l'ultimo album di inediti di Peter Gabriel che, per far uscire questo "i/o", ha operato in maniera del tutto inusuale: innanzitutto, nell'arco dell'ultimo anno, ha proposto in forma liquida i brani che lo compongono, peraltro ad ogni luna piena, quasi fosse un novello licantropo della musica; inoltre, e soprattutto, l'album è spalmato su tre diversi missaggi, di fatto tre album distinti che prendono rispettivamente i nomi di "Bright-side mix", "Dark-side mix" e "In-side mix".
